Having been accepted as a sacred place by both the Christians and the Muslims after the conquest of the Seljuks, Ashab-\u0131 Kehf became an important place to visit just as it had been in the Byzantine period. It is known by the Christians with the name ‘Seven Sleepers’. In the lexical meaning, Seven Sleepers refer to the seven young believers who escaped the persecution of the heathen Dakianus and took refuge in the cave in the Roman period, and after being put to sleep by God for many years, were woken again, and who are known among the public with their names Yemliha, Mislina, Mekselina, Mernu\u015f, Debernu\u015f, \u015eazenu\u015f and Kefestatayu\u015f and their dog K\u0131tmir. Ashab-\u0131 Kehf is an Arabic compound phrase made up of two words. Kehf means cavern, hole, cave. Its Arabic synonym is \u011far. Ashab has two meanings. The first is the plural of ‘owner’. Therefore, The Seven Sleepers, Ashab-\u0131 Kehf means ‘cave friends’ in this context. The other is ashab which is used as a word meaning pals, friends, and it also means cave pals, cave friends and cave splitters in this frame of reference.<\/p>\n

Ashab-\u0131 Kehf, wird wie auch schon in der \u00c4ra der Byzantiner auch nach der Eroberung der Selcuken von Christen und Muslimen als heiliger Ort angesehen und ist ein wichtiger Besuchsort. Von Christen ist dieser Ort unter dem Namen “Siebenschl\u00e4fer” bekannt. Die Wortbedeutung dieses Begriffes umfasst sieben Schlafende. Damit sind sieben gl\u00e4ubige Jugendliche gemeint die in der heidnischen \u00c4ra der R\u00f6merzeit von der Verfolgung des damaligen K\u00f6nigs Dakianus flohen und sich in einer H\u00f6hle versteckten, daraufhin von Gott viele Jahre in tiefem Schlaf versetzt wurden und der sie danach ebenso wieder aufwachen lie\u00df. Im Volksmund sind diese unter den Namen Yemliha, Mislina, Maximian (Mexelina), Mernus, Deberus, Schazenus und Kefestayus bekannt und deren Hund trug den Namen K\u0131tm\u0131r. Das Wort Ashab-\u0131-Kehf ist eine pr\u00e4positionale Phrase in zwei Teilen aus dem Arabischen. “Kehf” bedeutet H\u00f6hle. Das arabische Synonym ist “\u011ear” Das Wort “Ashap” tr\u00e4gt zwei Bedeutungen. Die erste ist das Plural von Besitzer\/Tr\u00e4ger. Somit bedeutet Ashab-\u0131-Kehf “H\u00f6hlenfreunde” Als zweite Bedeutung wird f\u00fcr “Ashap” der Begriff “Freunde” verwendet was hier letztendlich wieder “H\u00f6hlenfreunde” und “H\u00f6hlenbenutzer” bedeutet.<\/p>\n
